The students' diligent teacher, the nation's gifted scientist, the humble 'People's President' - an indefinable name he is. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. A man who dedicated his life and work to the betterment of a nation, and his time and energy to the billions of young minds he wished to ignite. He has left back dreams in everyone, and the undying inspiration to make those dreams come true.A surfeit of contents has been interwoven to give this book a shape. To read through the pages will mean a journey through his life in entirety. Besides Kalam's own speeches and quotes, it also contains literary tributes by scientists, academicians and students, the interviews of his family members, and a real-time anecdote of his interment ceremony at Rameswaram.

This isn't just a tribute, but a world beyond it to be read, explored and discovered.

About the author

Satyam Roychowdhury is a man of assorted interests. He is the co-founder and currently the Managing Director of Techno India Group the largest educational conglomerate in Eastern India. He is a prominent member and an active participant of the Art and Cultural milieu of Bengal. He has contributed to the society in multifaceted ways with his unstinted support and persistent patronage. He is one of the top educationalists of the country, but he is voracious reader by passion and a writer by ardour. He has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and he draws inspiration from great minds by imbibing their philosophies.

Roychowdhury is a tireless traveler on the path of creativity, and his journey has come a long way. His “For You” tribute series commenced with Tagore, got enriched with Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose after that, and the latest on has been a literary offering to Thakur Sri Ramakrishna. He owns many other titles to his credit, and his books have time and again inspired hundreds of young minds. He is a firm believer in hard work and sacrifice, and he thinks there is a spark in everyone to create a miracle.

Me thinks

When I got this book for review I didn't even take a moment to say yes because this is one person I admire the most and his recent untimely demise did shake me up completely. When he became the president of India suddenly it all felt so different. It felt as if India had got a new lease of life and things were about to change for better. And they did. He definitely brought the term President seem so approachable for a common man.  If anything I would have called this book, People's President for that is what he was. A people's man.

As I flipped through the pages there were places where tears filled my eyes. It was so overwhelming to have witnessed something so spectacular as him so closely. We as Indians are truly blessed. Each and every comment and tribute to him by prominent politicians and leaders make you realise how much loved he was. More than anything else, he was revered and respected.

He died doing something he loved the most, teaching and that shows how passionate he was towards his goal in life. I have read some of those tribute posts online as well, but reading them again moved me to tears.

For me this book is like a collector's edition. A complete collection encapsulating his larger than life story in those few thousands words and an attempt that surely needs to be appreciated. This book also contains few carefully chosen poems written by Dr. Kalam. They show you how deep his thoughts were on some of our social issues and how emotional a person he was. All his life he dedicated to the country and asked for nothing in return. Not even a public holiday on his birthday / death anniversary. All he wanted us to do was chase our dreams, work hard and make them come true. Now that is a sign of a truly great soul, a rare personality you don't come across everyday in your lives.

This book has few quotes by him, his poems, real life incidents which are truly inspiration with some amazing pictures of his that truly motivate you to keep doing better and better. When you look at his family pictures you realise how at heart he was still the same old common man who loves his family a lot and wants to ensure their betterment in every possible sense.

Overall a mindblowing read, I thoroughly enjoyed reading not once but many times as I re-read some of my favourite poems and pieces. They are a reminder to a magic called LIFE we all are blessed with.

If there is one word I can use for this book then it is "Extraordinary". Read this to know a wonderful soul. Have this in your personal library to keep reminding yourself how important it is to keep chasing your dreams in life. Buy this to make a note to self : Keep Dreaming. And gift this to someone if you want to give them hope. For this is what the whole book is about.

Book Review: Palestine Wail - Poems by Yahia Lababidi

In Palestine Wail: Poems , Yahia Lababidi creates a profound and unflinching exploration of the ongoing Palestinian crisis, drawing from his own heritage and heartbreak to reflect on a political and humanitarian catastrophe that has unfolded across decades. This collection, imbued with personal history, political outrage, and spiritual contemplation, serves as both a witness to injustice and a call to humanity. The work’s origins lie deeply in Lababidi’s own roots—his Palestinian grandmother, Rabiha Dajani, was forced to flee Jerusalem at gunpoint, a traumatic event that reverberates throughout Lababidi’s poetry.  As an Arab-American writer, Lababidi is uniquely positioned to speak on the intersection of identity, politics, and human rights. His poetry, both personal and political, draws a clear line between the suffering of the Palestinian people and the complicity of global powers in perpetuating that suffering. Through his words, Lababidi eloquently counters the equation that Z...
