A tiny flicker of hope - Boundless by Natasha Malpani Oswal

From the Blurb Indian women are taught to put others before themselves from an early age. This book aims to change that. Boundless is a powerfully honest collection of poems that encourage a young India to find its own identity. The last ten years for the poet, Natasha Malpani Oswal, have been a journey in experimentation and self-discovery. Natasha has tried to capture her exploration of the idea of home and identity over this time frame through these poems. In the recent times, poetry as a medium of expression has been widely celebrated which only means more to love for poetry lovers like me. With poets like Rupi Kaur, Harnidh Kaur, Rochelle Potkar we have been introduced to new forms of poetry which is poignant and relatable at the same time. Natasha Malpani Oswal is a big believer in the...

Behind the book : Pragya Bhagat

As a book reviewer I can say, I am blessed to have had the opportunity of not only reading some amazing works but also having the chance to speak to them, know their story and share it with their world. Couple of weeks ago I had received an email from Pragya requesting me to review her poetry collection. What struck me the most about her email was, her story and that is exactly what made me say yes because someone who has been through such an interesting journey so far will definitely have a lot to say. And I wasn't disappointed at all. You can make that out from my review HERE about her work.  To let you know more about her, Pragya Bhagat was born in New Delhi, but spent her childhood in five different countries. At the age of fifteen she immigrated to America, where she studied Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, Pragya taught science to sixth and eighth grade students at KIPP Austin College Prep.Volunteering with the survivors of the Bhopa...

Book Review: Mauj-e-Saraab (Waves of Illusion) by Minu Bakshi

Introduction ISBN:  978-8129145604 Genre:  Poetry / Urdu Publishers:  Rupa Publishing Price:  Rs. 299/-  ( I got the book for review from the  publisher ) Poetry is not merely a play of words but a serious spiritual exercise whose very being is pledged to the comprehension of the self and the universe. Good poetry is not possible in the absence of the flame of love because it is this light that tears apart the mist of obscurity surrounding the secrets of the universe. Shorn of the mist, the details become vibrant and the poet becomes aware of the enigma of reality. Tishnagi: The Thirst, Minu’s first book, garnered her unstinting praise from connoisseurs of Urdu poetry and hardened critics as well.Mauj-e-Saraab (Waves of Illusion), her second book of Urdu ghazals, is a manifestation of the various hues of the pageant of love and passion. It is the figurative expression of the tableaux of worldly spectacles that according to her is nothing but wav...
