Teenage is an age when there are so many changes that happen in our lives - blame it on hormones, peer pressure, friends and the eternal thing LOVE that happens to most of the teenagers in this age. It also leads to confusion, loads of mistakes , some wrong decisions and yes a life long repent.
I am an eternal romantic and hence the name Love is Vodka made this book a sure shot read for me so when it was there in Blog Adda for review I had to grab it with both hands!
Behind The book
With his two earlier two titles Flight of the Hilsa and Chapter 11, he has already captured a million minds and hearts. His writing questions the norms, seeks and exp, ores some discomforting answers. If not a writer, he would have been musician. He loves his space and coffee.
Me thinks
A love child, a confused teenager, a successful model, a die hard lover, a child woman, a dreamer, a naughty nut and many more such things rolled into one makes Moon the main protagonist of the story. The story is about Moon's journey from being confused to finding herself. Its about her finding love and learning there are so many beautiful facets to it apart from the one that we usually attach to have existed between boys and girls.
The narration is nicely done making it a quick and light read making it breezy. I enjoyed some of the scenes particularly where a teenager's confusion has been brought out very nicely. The author's language is also lucid and very easy to understand. Extra marital affairs, teem preganancy, domestic violence, love, friendship, live-in relationships - there is every aspect of life that has been covered in this book and that is what perhaps makes it more engrossing read.
The most beautiful aspect about this book was the way the author highlights the relationship between Moon and her mother. The delicacy with which he has dealth with such a delicate issue is truly commendable.
Though I admire the writing style which was good, I sometimes wonder what will a teenager think after reading this book?
