If I were asked to describe this book in one sentence it would be “Never say die.” In author’s own words this tale at its is core a love story that makes us question our beliefs about ourselves and our concept of sanity and forces us to believe that life is truly what one makes it. The author, after her first book “34 Bubble gums and candies” has very high expectations riding on her shoulders. But in her second book itself she does complete justice to it by not letting her readers down. She has handled a very difficult subject beautifully and managed to put across her point very effectively. Kudos to Preeti Shenoy for doing such a brilliant job for the second time in a row!
A heart rendering saga of young girl Ankita Sharma as she goes through the various ups and downs of life; this book makes you question that thing called life while at the same time provides an answer to it too. We all tend to take our lives for granted, being rest assured that there are some things which happen only in movies and books. This book jolts us to reality proving to us that the possibility of wrong things happening to us is equally proportionate to the possibility of it not happening at all. The story is about what happens when one fine day you wake up and find that your entire world has changed. You are no longer your own self. It’s the journey of pursuit for your own lost identity.
The simple and lucid language brings out the beauty of the human emotions embedded in this book. You should not be surprised if you finish this book in one go as the narrative is so gripping that it’s simply difficult to put it down once you begin reading it. It makes you cry and laugh all at one go, leaving you asking for more. This book once again proves that sheer grit and determination can actually do wonders re-emphasizing on the fact “Faith can move mountains.”
Take a trip down the memory lane as you accompany Ankita Sharma on her journey of growing up from a confused teenager to a confident college-goer only to end up as a patient in a mental hospital. What happens next reinstates your faith in the Divine. It’s about love, laughter, success, hurt, anger, jealousy, hatred, heart break, failure and much more. Such turbulent times in life show you the real worth of people around you. Like a drop of rain which creates ripples in the lake, this book creates ripples on our soul striking a chord somewhere deep down. It makes you feel thankful for all the good things in life and leaves you with a feeling of contentment.
To concise, the book’s message is a very simple saying, “Tough times don’t last; tough people do.” I would highly recommend this book as must read to get a feeling of déjà vu while flipping through the pages.
