Jamie is a nineteen-year-old Lodeshill boy who works in a distribution center and has a Saturday job at the bakery. He spent his childhood exploring the land with his grandfather and playing with Alex who lived in the farmhouse next-door.

When I began reading this book I wasn't sure of what to expect. What begins as a family drama with the backdrop of urban life at core turns into a thriller that makes you want to flip pages as quickly as possible.
Despite everything that we do and say sometimes life just doesn't come out the way it is supposed to be and at such moments we are reminded of the futility of our very own existence. This book is a stark reminder on that. We plan, we think, we analyse, we do and yet we fail at times. A heart tugging narration at the core with some very beautifully crafted lines to accompany make this book a very amazing read.
The English countryside life comes alive in her descriptions, as if she has painted your imagination with her words. The author's observation skills need to be appreciated here for being able to create such an effect on the reader. It is the narration which makes this book so engrossing that you cannot help reading it in one sitting like me.
What doesn't work in this book are the weak characters for a narration so story a reader is bound to expect characters that stay with him or her long after the reading is over. And here is where this book disappoints you.
But overall the book is definitely worth a read and much more purely for its strong narrative and the ability to paint a reader's imagination through words.
