The author of the internationally best-selling Harry Hole series now gives us an electrifying stand-alone novel set amid Oslo's hierarchy of corruption, from which one very unusual young man is about to propel himself into a mission of brutal revenge.

Sonny Lofthus, in his early thirties, has been in prison for the last dozen years: serving time for crimes he didn't commit. In exchange, he gets an uninterrupted supply of heroin—and the unexpected stream of fellow prisoners seeking out his uncanny abilities to soothe and absolve. His addiction started when his father committed suicide rather than be exposed as a corrupt cop, and now Sonny is the center of a vortex of corruption: prison staff, police, lawyers, a desperate priest—all of them focused on keeping him stoned and jailed, and all of them under the thumb of Oslo's crime overlord, the Twin. When Sonny learns some long-hidden truths about his father he makes a brilliant escape, and begins hunting down the people responsible for the hideous crimes he's paid for. But he's also being hunted, by the Twin, the cops, and the only person who knows the ultimate truth that Sonny is seeking. The question is, what will he do when they've cornered him?

Me thinks

This book was perhaps the longest I took on goodreads out of all my recent reads. But this one promised so much that I had no other choice but to bask in it as the author took me through the roller coaster ride which he has made as a book.

Thrillers is Author Jo Nesbo's forte and hence the expectations from this title were already riding very high. The author does complete justice to the expectations or it would be right to say he supersedes them by a huge amount. This book is a ferocious read, that is the word I would like to use with it. A page turner, one that makes you curious, excited and at the same time a small amount of fear grips your heart as you tend to guess what next, hoping it isn't what you are thinking while it turns out to be something else and still manages to make you embark on yet another thinking journey and guessing game.

The cover of the book is simple because the story is what steals the show. The ending is one that will leave you guessing. It is like a thriller movie where if you miss one second you will miss the whole movie after that as you will lose the link. It is that crucial  a narrative where one moment of thought and you are lost in the maze so amazingly woven by the author.

A perfectly baked crime thriller with no loose ends, no guessing games but one that haunts the reader. A highly recommended one for all crime thriller lovers, this is one book you surely wouldn't want to miss.

Foodie Verdict

This book is like an apple pic- crispy, crunchy and mouth watering delicious.

Book Review: Palestine Wail - Poems by Yahia Lababidi

In Palestine Wail: Poems , Yahia Lababidi creates a profound and unflinching exploration of the ongoing Palestinian crisis, drawing from his own heritage and heartbreak to reflect on a political and humanitarian catastrophe that has unfolded across decades. This collection, imbued with personal history, political outrage, and spiritual contemplation, serves as both a witness to injustice and a call to humanity. The work’s origins lie deeply in Lababidi’s own roots—his Palestinian grandmother, Rabiha Dajani, was forced to flee Jerusalem at gunpoint, a traumatic event that reverberates throughout Lababidi’s poetry.  As an Arab-American writer, Lababidi is uniquely positioned to speak on the intersection of identity, politics, and human rights. His poetry, both personal and political, draws a clear line between the suffering of the Palestinian people and the complicity of global powers in perpetuating that suffering. Through his words, Lababidi eloquently counters the equation that Zioni
