Behind the Book
A story of love and redemption from Kristin Hannah, author of multi million international bestseller The Nightingale.
We all make mistakes, but for Meghann Dontess the terrible choice she made some years ago cost her everything, including the love of her sister, Claire. Meghann is now a highly successful attorney, and has put all thoughts of love completely behind her - until she meets the one man who believes he can change her mind.
Claire has fallen in love for the first time in her life, and as her wedding day approaches she prepares to face her strong-willed older sister. Reunited after two decades, these two women who believe they have nothing in common will try to become what they never were: a family.
Tender, funny, bittersweet and moving, Between Sisters skillfully explores the profound joys and sorrows shared in a close relationship, the mistakes made in the name of love, and the promise of redemption.
Kristin Hannah is the New York Times bestselling author of more than twenty novels, including the blockbuster bestsellers The Nightingale and Firefly Lane. She is a former lawyer turned writer and is the mother of one son. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband.
In life siblings play a very important role. We might fight all through our growing up years but there comes a stage in life when they become our 3 A.M. friends, someone we can depend on blindly and know that we will never be let down. But what if that relationship is marred with a lot of bitterness rendering it irreversible?
Talking about such bitter sweet love of siblings, this book leaves you all teary eyed by the time you reach the last page. Relationships are complicated and we tend to mess them up further by our expectations. Setting the tone right from the first page, the author makes sure you are into the story of these two stories till the very end. Not a single moment felt out of place or overtly done in terms of emotions. It all felt appropriate, one that can melt hearts.
Misunderstanding can cause a lot of chaos in relationships, sometimes even breaking them beyond repair and that is when we need to decide whether it is all worth the hurt or not. Reading this book is a reminder in learning the art of what to hold on, what to let go and when. I don't have a sister by Meghann and Claire felt so real and relatable because perhaps with someone or the other we have shared this friction where we cannot hate them not can love them.
I loved the tenderness all throughout the narrative, making it a very poignant read. The story demanded a tone which was not overshadowing the emotions at play of the lead characters. The author has done a wonderful job in that ensuring that the magic of relationships is displayed at its best.
Recommended to all women out there, read this when you want a heart warming read, to remind yourself how blessed you are with all the lovely people in our life.
Foodie Verdict
