I have always enjoyed reading the author, Purba's writings. Be it her blogs or her books, she has a flair for writing stories that bring out the beauty of life very nicely. Having enjoyed her previous books, it didn't take me more than a second to say yes to read and review her latest offering. Touted to be a romantic thriller, I was more than excited to read this one as the took a path she had never ventured onto before. All her previous books though have romance as a back drop, they can be largely called drama as they talk about various aspects of relationships.
When I started reading the book I was thrilled to see the way she had managed to keep the suspense quotient up for so long. The thrill, the jittery feels, it was all there in her words. I had to finish the book in one reading as I could not sleep without knowing what happened next and for this the author deserves brownie points. Being able to write thrillers, with requisite twists and turns and manage to retain it for the major part of the book is no mean feat. And she has done it brilliantly well.
The characters of both the sisters have been defined so well, similar yet distinct each of them finds a special place in your heart. They don't look like mere cardboard cutouts, they look like someone you know in real life. Lucid language and taut narrative, the story with its flowing description takes us through the picturesque town of Kalimpong and the lives of these stories in a breeze. It feels as if you are watching a movie, and not reading a book. The eye for detail is something I admire about the author. The only thing which didn't work for me were the editing lapses at few places.
However that doesn't take away the beauty of this piece. Strongly recommended for all romantic thriller lovers!
