An exploration of how extreme athletes break the limits of ultimate human performance and what we can learn from their mastery of the state of consciousness known as “flow” In this groundbreaking book, New York Times–bestselling author Steven Kotler decodes the mystery of ultimate human performance. Drawing on over a decade of research and first-hand interviews with dozens of top action and adventure sports athletes such as big–wave legend Laird Hamilton, big–mountain snowboarder Jeremy Jones, and skateboarding pioneer Danny Way, Kotler explores the frontier science of “flow,” an optimal state of consciousness where we perform and feel our best.
Building a bridge between the extreme and the mainstream, The Rise of Superman explains how these athletes are using flow to do the impossible and how we can use this information to radically accelerate our performance in our own lives.
At its core, this is a book about profound possibility, what is actually possible for our species, and where—if anywhere—our limits lie.

Me thinks
I have heard a lot about Steven Kotler, read a lot about him and when finally I was reading a book by him it was surely enthralling. One of the most amazing things about this book is that it is for YOU! Yes the way the author has narrated it, the book actually feels like a tailor made instruction manual for each one of us.
I was travelling when I received the book and I read it thrice during my travel for I enjoyed the way it made me rack my brains. It was a very different and a unique thought process that I was introduced to through the author’s detailed work. I must say this book is definitely a must read for all of those people who are curious about the way the human mind functions and also for them who think why is someone smarter than the other or is able to outperform them while actually it looks to be beyond human capacity.
This book has all the more answers to each and every thing that till now was just a part of my mind and not only it let me think of some more questions it also unveiled a new world full of possibilities for me.Recommended a read strongly for people who are go-getters and want to make the most of it all!
